Remember the horrible puppy-tossing incident?

Well, now the marines are being punished for it.

"The U.S. Marine Corps has disciplined two Marines over a videotape that showed a Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff, the military said Wednesday.

Officials did not specify the role that each man played in the incident, which received international attention after a video of it appeared on YouTube.com March 3.

Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished.

The video shows someone throwing a black-and-white puppy off a rocky cliff. The dog makes a yelping sound as it flies through the air.

"That's mean. That was mean," someone off-camera is heard saying.

YouTube removed the video about a day after it was posted, "due to terms of use violation," the site said.

The Marines were quick to condemn the video when it surfaced, calling it "shocking and deplorable."

Marine officials said the disciplinary action followed a thorough investigation, according to a statement that the Marine Corps Base Hawaii released Wednesday.
"The actions seen in the Internet video are contrary to the high standards we expect of every Marine and will not be tolerated," the statement said."

As the codeine cough syrup slowly weaves its magic spell over my diseased respiratory tract and tired cerebrum, I thought I'd end the debate once and for all over why Americans are hated by Europeans and the rest of the world. It is because of this:

Yes, it is real.

Now I enjoy bacon just as much as your average human carnivore not beholden to religious dietary restrictions, but do I REALLY need to explain why this saddens, irritates, and appalls me all at the same time? Does nothing in the world disgust you more than seeing wretched, decadent, and plain idiotic American excess like strips of fatty swine flesh turned into a gourmet item/book of the month club? And look, they even throw in a tacky t-shirt AND pig nose! After I stumbled across this club even I felt like burning an American flag.

In the dying days of the Roman Empire there were still plenty of wines to drink, slaves to be bought and sold, and orgies to attend. They (the patricians) still lived large while the so-called "barbarians" were shitting in the woods and sharpening their axes, just waiting for the right moment. However the Romans at least left us the Coliseum and some aqueducts that still function to this day. I just hope the tombstone for the American Empire isn't made from congealed bacon grease.

I'll make this short and sweet.

Lots of political videos (similarly, EIA videos as well) have been posted, and after watching them, I'll be mad. Naturally, some of these videos are meant to make you feel that way. You know, the "well he said blah blah blah about blah blah blah" type stuff.

Now here's the problem... in that particular instance, I would never condone the content of the videos happening, but I felt glad that I watched the video.

On one hand, I don't want to upvote something that's terrible in a way, but at the same time... I feel it was worth the watch, I'm just not sure I'd like others to see it as well and feel the way I do.

Do I upvote the videos that've disgusted me in some way, when that's what the posters' intention was, as it was a disgusting video? Or do I just keep sifting?

It seems like the *terrible tag is way over used around here. Its almost become an excuse to sift crap videos. People don't seem to understand the purpose behind the *terrible tag.

From the *terrible Channel:
"You know when you open some old milk, and the first thing you do is offer it to someone else saying "wow, this is nasty, smell it"... Yeah, those kind of videos.

Videos of terrible, awful What-Were-They-Thinking commercial/pop-culture products/releases. Terrible music videos, movies, TV show clips, toys, etc. Things that some corporate exec decided to actually give a green light. The sorts of things that you watch, and think "SOMEBODY should have known better that to release that". The stuff that's so bad, you can't help but share.

Not the place for bad youtube lip-synch videos, or other sub-standard amateur releases."

Lets start watching what goes into this channel.

I noticed some things:

#1. comments that are upvoted a bunch end up on the sidebar for people to see.

#2. siftbot's comments (responses to invocations) can be upvoted.

#3. combining 1 and 2 could lead to Siftbot having featured comments.

I have been upvoting every siftbot comment I come across.
It seems like a "terrible" idea to encourage others to do the same.
